Description8-page letter written to Mas Iwate from Tatsumi Iwate on May 4, 1943. Camp Hale letterhead on top center has text scratched out with ink. Tatsumi writes that it's a surprise to Mas to hear from him in Fort Jackson, South Carolina instead of Camp Shelby, Mississippi, that the Company Commander quietly called him into his office and handed him an order that he was to be transferred from the 442nd Infantry that night, they arrived at Fort Jackson the following night very tired and were assigned to Station Complement Separate Unit 1497 that joined 50 white people, barracks are similar to Camp Shelby, those who were thrown out of the 442nd C.T. were Kibei who had visited Japan and that there were still several Kibei still in the 442nd, that Mas knows how anxious he was to get into the 442nd.
