DescriptionRed Cross message letter from Matsue Iwate in Wakayama, Japan on August 30, 1943. Message is stamped in blue with Kanji and Katakana characters. Letter is sent to Tatsumi Iwate, dual national, to last address in San Francisco. [Tatsumi is enlisted in the army at this point, likely in Colorado.] Red stamp on bottom right corner reads, "AMERICAN RED CROSS / DEC 14 1943 / INQUIRY UNIT". Message asks how Tatsumi and his brother are doing, says Matsue (mother) is doing fine, and she wants to know how Tatsumi and Masaji (brother) are doing (something to the effect of 'tell me if you are safe').
