Description1 envelope; 2 paged handwritten letter from Pfc. Shiro Iwana to Norio Mitsuoka on August 15, 1945 in blue ink. Iwana writes about the war being over and VJ (Victory over Japan) Day, hopes to be discharged and home before Christmas, German weapons that men men are picking up that were abandoned on the battle fields, cameras in Germany and hopes to buy one before leaving.

Beige envelope addressed to Mr. Norio Mitsuoka, Fire Station #1, Hunt Idaho from Pfc. Shiro Iwana, 522 FA bn, APO New York. Postmarked Aug. 18, 1945 US Army Postal Service. 6 cent airmail postage is pre-printed in orange ink on the envelope. In center bottom of envelope is a large round stamp indicating it was received at Minidoka War Relocation Project on Sept 1, 1945, 3:30 PM.
