Description1 envelope, 1st page double-sided, 2nd page one-sided; 3 paged handwritten letter written to Norio Mitsuoka from Chiye Sugar Sato on March 24, 1942. She writes in blue fountain pen ink on thick stationary with "Chiye Sugar Sato" printed in gold in upper corner. Sato writes that she is sorry to hear that Mitsuoka was discharged from the army and writes, "these things happen to us nisei", she asks for photos of him and any other friends, about having to move to a concentration camp since she is in military area 1, zone B, she explains her nickname "Sugar" because last name Sato means sugar in Japanese, and signs the name "Sugar".
Envelope addressed to Mr. Norio Mitsuoka in Seattle, WA from Chiye Sato in Hood River, OR. Postmarked Marc 25, 1942, Hood River, Oreg. No postage stamp but there is a clear space in upper right corner where stamp was affixed. Return address is written on verso of envelope; envelope is cream colored.
