DescriptionIrregular piece of wood, with a large knot in which a poem has been carved in Japanese characters. The piece of wood is 7/8" thick and squared across the bottom edge. The top edge is irregularly broken with jagged edges. Only the top face of the wood is polished and shiny. The back and side edges are fairly smooth but left natural. The large knot is approximately 3-1/2x4" oval. Inside the knot are 7 vertical rows of writing carved into the wood.
