DescriptionWooden carving of woman in kimono (8 1/4" tall) on a rectangular base (1 1/4 thick). The woman is looking over her left shoulder. Her obi is tied in the front. She holds the skirt front of the kimono with her right hand. The toes of one foot show underneath where the kimono is slightly lifted. The woman's hair is painted black and is styled with a top knot in the back and comb at the back of the head. The eyes and eyebrows are painted with five black lines. The woman's lips and the edge of the kimono are painted or stained a dark brown,. The lady is mounted onto the base by means of a round dowel inserted into each piecre. The artist's name "Biichi" is carved in the base.
