Description1 Photographic 8x10 negative : b&w ; Photographed on Agfa Safety Film. A large group of young children wearing Kendo Bogu (armor) sit in neat lines inside a school gymnasium. A Japanese and an American Flag are hung behind them. Parents sit in the bleachers above. At the bottom of the photo in Japanese it reads, “The Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, North America Southern California Branch First Martial Arts Training Convention / Tanaka Photo Studio L.A. June 28th 1936.” One (1) glassine envelope that the negative was stored in reads, “JUN 28 1936 / Name Y. Kubota.”
