DescriptionFan made of paper, wood and wire. The handle is a 9 1/2 x 1/2" (diameter) wooden stick which has been sliced at the top to create a slit to insert the cardboard fan. The stick is fastened to the fan with a small wire. The top end of the stick is shaved to create a tapered edge. The bottom end of the stick is trimmed like a gemstone facet. The face of the fan is brown corrugated carton cut into an upside down teardrop shape. (a) Side "a" has 3 diagonal strips of paper with Japanese characters written on them: (1) 3 7/8 x 2 1/8" tan paper with orange hanko stamp in UR and LL corners and orange ink smudge in UL corner, (2) 8 1/2 x 1 3/8" blue paper with smeared orange hanko stamp in RU and LL corners, (3) 5 1/4 x 1" beige paper with orange hanko stamps (smeared) in UR and LL corners. There is a single stroke of silver ink in the UL corner. (b) Side "b" has one piece of beige paper (6 x 3 5/8") with corners cut off diagonally. There are 4 columns of Japanese writing and orange hanko stamps in UR and LL corners.
