Dear Molly:
It was awful good to hear from you. And to hear that your family are fine too. Everybody in the Inamura's are fine. On Feb. 4th I got an appendicitis operation and was laid up in hospital for 10 days. Usually they keep them in for 2 weeks but since my operation was a big success and was heeled [sp] up in 10 days they let me out.
Boy what I didn't go through. They gave me double spinal cord shot but it didn't affect me at all. You see they don't give ether to kids over 12 years of age. And when they started in cutting me boy I screamed and yelled and usually a operation takes 25 to 40 min. Here they took from 10 A.M. to 11:20 A.M. Those hour and twenty min sure felt like days + days.
Then they give liquid diet for 5 or 6 days. Nothing but broth + jello and fruit juice. Boy you just starve and think you're gona die. Then on the 6 or 7th day they'll give you soft diet thats when they feed you smashed pea's, smashed beans smashed this + that. Just like baby food. In the 8th day, they'll give you full diet around the 8th or 9th they'll let you walk to the toilet. Until then they give you a bed pan. Boy what an experience I went through. Never again should I land in there. Thats how busy [sp] I was. Now I can do most any thing, except wash [sp] and lift heavy thing. And everything I have to take it easy. I went to couple of socials after I came out of the hospital. I really don't know when I'm going to graduate.
Don't be alarmed to hear the I haven't graduated yet.
But the reason I never graduate is I fooled around for 4 ½ month last semester. Now I'm laid up for a month cause I landed in hospital.
You must be having a wonderful time at college. And gee [sp] you could write Japanese, better than some of the Japanese kids around hear here. In the other sheet of paper as you know is written in Japanese. And I have translated on the following letter.

Dearest Molly - chan.
For a long time, we've been very good friends. Since we separated its been 2 ½ years. But I have not forgotten you and never will. No matter how long, this war lasts, we shall always write to each other. After the war I know I would return to Folsom again You asked about Haruko Nagahiro, well she went out side. Don't know where. Infact I forgot [sp]. Heart Mountain weather right now is just like California It seems like Los Angeles got the Wyoming weather. If you can read this letter, from now on I will write to you in Japanese. Well I will be waiting for your letter.

Hope you can understand it. If you can learn any Japanese by my writing to you in Japanese I'd be glad to write in Japanese and translate in English like I did. Well til I hear from you. Say hello to whom ever I know.
