DescriptionOne letter addressed to Mollie from Lilian (signed Nobie) and dated April 14, 1943.;
Dear Molly,
Surprised? Well, hope so, I mean my writing soon. Gosh! It certainly is glad to hear from you. I'm just fine, may be alittle "shot" from hear, studies, etc. Gosh! No time for anything. How's L.A.? Couldn't be the same place, could it? Do I miss it, no lies! All of our my friends left behind----but still I've met lots and lots of new friends here.
Lucky you to be in a class full of boys! No luck here! Is that class very fun? I'm taking tyrping again 4th semester and boy! Whatta teacher! She's from the South and ha that sar-tain accent! Cute tho'----Heard Mrs. Kemp got hitched. How does she do it? Well, if she can maybe I can too huh?
Well, well, now you're going out a lot! Swell! Now's the time to start huh? Boy! I swear I have more troubles! Just like Sandie! Everything happens to me! (Psst. You don't mind my telling you all my woes huh? Hope not!) There's one thing wrong tho' about being here in camp, and that's that you go out with a fella once and they think love is bloomin; twice and you're going steady. Gosh! It sure burns me up! I'm free as a bird. How about you? Going steady with a guy, or are you free-lancing? Last nite, I went to a show, "Fleet's In." Did you see that? It was cute! Tell me what you've seen.
Are you working or just studying? Gosh! School here is quite boring for me. I just sit in the class rooms and write notes to the kid. Nothin' else to do, but we sure get a lot of home-work. We're getting our grades this week and I'll be happy if I come out with a "C." Man! Tests every week day this week, I'll sure be glad when it's all over. Is Roosevelt still the same? I mean in studies. I bet a lot of things have changed huh! It's been almost a year no since I've left Roosevelt. To be exact, it will be on May 7th.
How have those rationings effect you? Gas hasn't hit as no cars-just Govt's cars. Food, hatchery nearby, is outside. Even shoes! Now! I wonder hoe everything will turn out in the end?
Gee, all the boys are leaving for the sugar beet fields & won't be back for 9 months. Gosh! We'll have men shortage. Guess that's hit you kids already huh!
Michi is trying to relocate to Chicago and I'll probably follow her. Sure wished it were L.A. instead.
Kay, are you planning to join the N.A.A.C or N.A.U.E.s? The gals that are 17 and over had to answer a question on that. I sure wouldn't mind. Good experience huh?
Well, guess I've chit-chatted too much, so I'll be closin'---hope I didn't bore you, any. Be good now and take it easy, Molly. Write again.
Love,
Nobie
