DescriptionBlack and white home movie footage of the California Pacific International Exposition, San Diego Zoo, and family life at home filmed by Naokichi Hashizume, circa 1935-1936. Footage includes exhibitions, shows, and pedestrians at the California Pacific International Exposition in Balboa Park in San Diego; as well as animals at the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park. Footage at the Hashizume home includes Naokichi’s wife, Kikuko, and their daughters Kimie and Teruko playing and eating noodles and ice cream, as well as toys and Christmas decorations.

13:43 – Little girls in high chairs, each with a bowl of noodles. They eat the noodles with their hands; the older uses chopsticks to drop noodles onto the younger’s tray. Someone feeds the younger with chopsticks, and dangles a noodle for her to eat. Older shovels noodles into her mouth from the bowl. Younger tries to share her noodles.
