DescriptionBlack and white home movie footage, filmed by Seiichiro Nagamori circa 1929. The first section shows Los Angeles Troop 64 members assembled at a Boy Scout event held at a neighborhood church. The second section is filmed at a dock where the Japanese passenger ship Santos Maru is about to depart. Footage shows people posing together, band playing, people waving goodbye on the ship, and the ship itself.

0:52 -- Troop is practicing marching down residential street
1:13 -- Troop marches down the same residential street (camera on tripod visible)
1:35 -- Troop leader(?) walks down stairs of church; troop flagbearers can be seen inside the church waiting to follow; leader shakes hands with people lined up along the stairs
1:48 -- Another troop member descends the stair followed by another who is wearing a badge sash
2:05 -- Leader is shaking hands with an older man in glasses
2:12 -- Boy Scout troop walks down the stairs; people lined up along the stairs behind them
2:36 -- Shot of troop as they march down the same residential street
2:54 -- The troop is now assembled on the stairs of the church and are preparing to take a group picture

4:26 -- Footage changes to the harbor near the Santos Maru; panning shot of two civilian men (one younger, one older) in suits, one sailor holding a little girl in a light dress and hat, a woman in a light dress, one sailor, and one (officer?)
4:43 -- same civilian older man, sailor carrying girl, sailor and officer pose with a different civilian man
4:51 -- panning shot of a seated band playing music; people are standing behind the band — some are watching and others are walking up a gangplank (can see the letter “L” on the side). Most are Asian, there also looks like a Black man and a Black child and white man are present also
5:10 -- a woman in a cloche hat stands with a boy who looks to be between the ages of 8-12 and they are both looking at the camera
5:17 -- the same woman and boy are on board the ship, holding streamers. Long white streamers are attached to the (railing) of the ship
5:27 -- shot of a man with a mustache near the side of the ship
5:31 -- a wider shot of the woman and child, still standing at the rails with the streamers; other people and children are visible. People are waving and the ship is slowly moving away from the camera
5:39 -- The ship is leaving the dock and the port and port bow (left side) of the ship can be seen. The port side is covered in streamers
5:56 -- A wide shot of the entire port side of the ship as it sails past the camera; the name SANTOS MARU (above the English letters, is Japanese kanji and hiragana - romanization of hiragana: sutonsa ?) is visible on the port-side stern.
