DescriptionWatercolor painting of barracks on a winter day. In the foreground is a barrack with 4 smoke stacks on one side with a person wearing an apron outside the door near a stack of coal. Two additional smoke stacks to the back side of the barrack. 8 people painted in dark gray silhouette appear bundled up and hunched over as they walk on snowy ground towards the barrack (it may be the mess hall). In the background are 3 additional barracks. The sky is shades of blue-gray, navy blue and gray. The roof tops are creamy white. The barracks are brown with golden yellow light in the windows. The ground is shades of pale blue and gray. Mounted in 14x17" ivory colored matt board. Signed and dated "Estelle Ishigo 1-43" in LR corner.
