Written on verso, "Don Okubo #39", written on paper in black ink taped to verso, "Captured Japanese flag", under it typed, "#39-1 kneeling - front row, / L-R three orientals were: Ed Fujimori, Hisashi Kubota, Don Okubo", and under that is written in black ink, "After the U.S. Maine invasion of Delelin, Caroline Islands / September 1944 - Nisei linguists attached to 1st Maine Division".
