"A friend of mine who is the Washington representative of the JACL has suggested that I and as many people as posible to write to their Senators and congressmen to ask them to do what they can for me. He feels such intervention will be quite effective. In writing, you would explain the circumstances: that I was born in Japan, was admitted before the Oriental Exclusion Act of 1924, lived in the States as a permanent alien resident, and was repatriated during the last war.";Letter from Kiyoko to Ruth expressing gratitude and requesting Ruth write to her senator and congressmen on her behalf. THe letter outlines her personal history (born in Japan, immigrated before 1924, then repatriated after World War II). She mentions that is Ruth's senators' opinion is negative towards immigration she needn't bother.
