DescriptionBook, titled "Kokuen" (Black Flames) consists of 27 woodcut prints in black ink. Artist, Teikichi Hikoyama, created this booklet of woodcut prints in 1922-1923. Covers are of tan colored heavy rice paper. Front cover is decorated with black and silver colored Japanese characters in a square design. Bottom right corner has black colored cut out lettering pasted onto cover. A red "han" with stylized English lettering of artist's name accompanies each print-lower right corner. Each print has a title.
