Description1 oil on canvas, "Mrs. Ueyama in Kimono" by Tokio Ueyama, 1929. Image of a woman (Suye Ueyama), her dark hair pulled back, standing on a floral patterned carpet. She is wearing a black Japanese kimono with multicolor patterned design of a peacock and flowers on lower half of kimono; multicolor patterned obi around chest area. Woman holds a folded fan on left hand. Frame is made of wood painted dark brown. Attached on top edge, back of frame is an old exhibit label from the Los Angeles Museum, Exposition Park in Los Angeles, "Twelfth Annual Paintings and Sculptors Exhibition," and lists painting's title artist's name. Also informally referred to as: "The Kimono" and "Portrait of Suye Ueyama".
