Description1 photographic prin t: b&w ; 8x10" photograph of opening day of Nanka Merchant Union. Image is of 21 men and 1 small boy seated and standing in a warehouse. Men are dressed in a variety of clothing styles - sweater and tie, sweater vest and pants, aprons over shirt and pants, or casual shirt and pants. Warehouse is brick with cement floor and wood slats across the ceiling. Stacked on the sides and back and brown and white sacks, cases of Carnation milk, cases of MJB coffee, boxes of JAP Rose soap, and other cases of items not easily decipherable.
The bottom of the photo has imprinted in white Japanese characters and "Opening Day" with the date June 1, 1927. Written in black ink and black marker at the bottom of the photo is additional Japanese characters and "Opening day of Nanka Merchant Union, first Japanese Grocery Association, Hanji Okubo, Pres." A black "x" is below the man in a white coat (possibly Mr. Okubo).
